Description
Description
Torsemide is a loop diuretic used to manage fluid retention and swelling in horses. There is a potential role in preventing exercise-induced pulmonary hemorrhage (EIPH) by utilizing torsemide at the correct dosage. Research indicates that torsemide has an oral bioavailability in horses of approximately 80–90%, whereas furosemide (Lasix) has an oral bioavailability as low as 5%.
- 22.5 mg/mL; 100 mL
Mechanism of Action
Mechanism of Action
It inhibits the reabsorption of sodium and chloride in the kidneys, increasing urine output to reduce edema and, when dosed appropriately, may help reduce pulmonary vascular pressures.
